At one of NLBI's most recent seminars in Uganda, an incredible testimony about forgiveness was shared by a participant, whom we will refer to as "Sam." It's definitely worth reading.
After Sam became engaged, his fiancé's parents caught him, tied his hands on a tree, and started flogging him. After beating him for two hours, they poured gasoline on his body. Sam's fiancé snatched the match box from her parents, saving his life.
Sam said he developed hatred for this family and never dreamed of forgiving them until he became a Christian and was taught about forgiving our enemies. He prayed about it until one day, "God made a miracle that resulted in him demonstrating true forgiveness to his former girlfriend's family," NLBI Instructors Geoffrey and Silus wrote.
The man who had tried to kill Sam was in a fight and nearly beaten to death by another man. Sam was passing by on the same road where this happened and found the man lying half dead. He carried him to the nearest hospital and provided and cared for him until he healed. From that moment on, they became friends and forgave one another.
"Sam is thankful for God's forgiveness in his heart and for NLBI's practical and life transforming lessons," they said.
